Dug trees with burlapped, basketed root balls

Dug to order

Dug, ready-to-plant trees

You pick the size; we dig to order with our tree spade and prep the tree with burlap and a wire basket, ready to pick up and transplant.

The trees

Spruce or blue spruce

Both are grown for northern winters and planted for the same jobs: a windbreak or a privacy screen. The difference is the look.

Spruce

Spruce is the classic northern evergreen: dense, green, and reliable in a row.

White spruce is hardy to zone 2, well inside what Peace Region winters demand.

Growth is moderate, about 12–24 inches per year, with landscape size commonly 40–60 feet tall and 10–20 feet wide over decades.

Blue spruce

Blue spruce has stiff, sharp, blue needles and a pyramid of stiff branches that hold to the ground.

Colorado blue spruce is hardy in zones 3–7 and sits at the cold edge of that range in northern climates like the Peace Region.

Growth is slow to moderate, about 12–24 inches per year, with landscape size commonly 30–60 feet tall and 10–30 feet wide over decades.

Sizes

How each band reads once it is in your yard.

4–6'

A 4–6 foot tree stands about first-floor window height beside a house or fence.

6–8'

A 6–8 foot tree reaches about first-story window to eave height and starts a visible privacy line along a fence.

8–10'

An 8–10 foot tree stands about eave height on a one-story house, a solid screen along a fence.

10–12'

A 10–12 foot tree is about first-story roof height, a full windbreak or privacy row next to a house.
